ScotsGirl's Survival Guide to V-Day

Hello all you lovely people,

First off, I am terribly sorry for keeping you all waiting until about an hour AFTER Valentine's Day but I have been stuck somewhere with little or no internet access, and then in a car for about 5 hours. I honestly had this post written...but it just never actually got onto the internet, shall we say.

So. Big day today. I am of course talking about the fact that over 700 of you have viewed this insignificant little blog and for that I thank you most graciously.
What? Oh, yeah….happy Valentine’s Day! Seriously, I’m so happy for all you lovely people who have somebody to share this joyous day with. At the current time of writing this blog post, I am a Single Pringle but I won’t deny it, I have had my fair share of love, loss and general tragedy.
But hey, we’re not here to talk about that! I promised you all a short while ago that this eagerly anticipated post – I’m sure – was to contain plenty of feel-good quotes, and a very cheesy poem. In fact, I like this cheesy poem so much I might just record it and put it up on YouTube. With music, of course. Me, sitting there reading a rubbish poem to a camera – I seriously cannot think of anything more appealing to you, dear reader.
But yes, for your enjoyment here is a special selection of love quotes that I handpicked especially for this wonderful day. Please, feel free to try them out on someone close to you. Or not. I don’t really mind, to be honest.

“Technically I’m single, but my heart belongs to someone I can’t call my own.” Anon
“Love had nothing to do with what you are expecting to get, it’s what you are expected to give – which is everything.” Anon
“Love is the strongest force the world possesses, and yet it is the Greatness of a road leading towards the unknown.” Charles de Gaulle (and also my favourite!)
“Love cures people – both the ones who give it and the ones who receive it.” Dr. Karl Menninger
“Love can’t be proven until you both die loving each other.” Airon T. Reyes
“Love is friendship set on fire.” Jeremy Taylor

Another feature to this post today is a short list of some wonderful feel-good films to watch today. I have compiled a short list of my top favourite  films to watch on Valentine’s Day:

Valentine’s Day – it’s an allstar cast but has all the wonderful additions a good rom-com needs. Seriously worth watching with your friend or loved ones.
Despicable Me – a childish Disney cartoon with three adorable girls and a wonderful tale of love, sacrifice and very bad supervillains.
Finding Nemo – hey, don’t laugh at me! Finding Nemo is the ultimate film. It’s actually sold more copies than ET, so just shows you.
Love Actually - so what that this is a Christmas movie? Love Actually is all these different people seeming entwined together to enjoy a bit of festive romance. Again, an allstar cast that pulls it off admirably.

Alright, so maybe I watch more Disney movies than is good for me. But hey, who doesn’t love the fact that Disney told a better love story in Up in 8 minutes than Stephanie Meyer wrote in 4 books!
And now for the poem that I have promised all of you. I’m sorry that it’s really not very good – I just wrote down whatever came into my head during my brainstom sesh and that happened to be the result.

My Poem
Valentine’s Day, what a joyous thing,
Full of guys giving girls their bling,
Flowers and chocolates are everywhere in sight,
I’m allergic to flowers, they give me a fright,
I really hate this Valentine’s day,
It just makes me want to stand up and say
“Yes, I’m single,
A  single pringle,
That just means I’m free to mingle
With others who feel the same way.”

I do think that is it fair to mention that I am a writer with severe amounts of pressure on me at all angles. Add that to the fact that I am a hormonal teenage girl, and you can probably see where I'm coming from on this post.

Still, this shall probably be my last post for a while, I’m afraid. I have an unseasonal amount of exams coming up in March and I do actually, sort of…need to do well in them? Still, I’ll keep you posted when I can.
Geddit? Posted? This is a blog? No? Oh, okay then.
Bye!

Why Am I Here?

So today I decided to tell you the story of this blog's existence. It's quite short and not very interesting, but I've got several emails asking for this particular post...soo....
Basically, I enjoy writing. I like making up stories and writing them down. But I've often found that my stories are so complicated I can't physically write them down - they have too much going on all at once. So for my New Years Resolution 2012, I decided that I would keep a journal of some kind. But, like I said, my thoughts are too quick for my pen to write down, and I'm useless at scrapbooks, so I decided to set up a blog to write down my thoughts so EVERYONE can see them :)
So far I've had nearly 700 views on this blog, I'm quite proud of that figure, don't know whether you are, but a MAHOOSIVE thankyou to everyone. It's because of this blog that I've started actually using my YouTube account, so I owe you all one.
Anyhoo, just a short post today explaining my existence....Bye!

Why My Video Didn't Work

Hello,
Right, first off I want to apologise for not putting up my video as promised. I was literally editing it about 3 seconds ago, but now it's not working!! :'(
I did get some really great footage, but apparently my camera SD card is contaminated :'( so no video until it's fixed. I'm running a thingy on it now so hopefully the video will be up...just later.
Anyway, for those who are out of the loop, today I went to a recording studio to record a song that I did write. I'm very proud of it and to be fairly honest with you it's really quite good. :D I was there for about 3 hours in which time I took about 3 pictures and one very short video, I also sang said song about 50 times - and we're still not done! In fact, I'm currently in the process of booking another session, during which hopefully we can get it done and I shall a) put it up on here, so all you lovely people can hear it, and b) start sending it off as a demo, mostly to local radio stations but also to some proper recording companies, which is very exciting considering I'm not 18.
Thankyou so much, by the way, to everyone who has been visiting and leaving lots of lovely emails and comments around. I've had over 500 views, which is very encouraging considering I'm new to this whole blogging thing and especially when I've been doing it for less than a month. Big shout out to the UK and USA,  who between them have made about 3/4 of my audience. Thankyou also to Russia, Canada and Spain! :D

Toodlepip for now, I'm being called to go and make a cup of tea for the parents. Bye!
